… what with the A-Musik tag and all, I was very curious for these, but of course, this general overview does not cover the NDW era as extensively as, say, the “Berlin Super 80” v/a 2lp / cd+dvd+book; on the other hand, it does offer more historic background
Incidentally, referring to the same NDW period but also including the rest of Germany, do check the v/a “New Deutsch” cd / 2lp, “Teutonik Disaster” cd + cd and “Verschwende Deine Jugend” 2cd compilations as well … click the links word per word & see my earlier reviews of those records via the archive below > U0307 + U0312 + U0319 + U0502.
Nota bene: the playlists are merely intended as an illustration (not a compilation), as the whole Berlin Sampler site is only an extension of the book, not really a site in its own right … Mes excuses for any initial misgivings about that and hats off to editor Guillaume for pointing it out. (I’ve edited this blogpost since his comments below.) Guess I’ll have to find that ISBN 9782918002062 by Théo Lessour now … or just start by this excerpt: http://berlin-sampler.fr/avantproposetpremierepartie.pdf (- kinda reminded me of http://www.therestisnoise.com/ -); there’s also a link to the back cover via http://gazette.lecomptoirdiff.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=968&Itemid=28
& as I’m just starting this blog … do note that maybe I’ll be relocating this post elsewhere later on … I’m still experimenting with the format(s) … I’ve started out looking for the ideal place to post playlists, audio interviews, pdf’s of old e-zines … maybe on Posterous, maybe in WordPress, probably not via Blogger, certainly not via MySpace … and haven’t made up my mind about tweetin’ either! Did go for the autopost to Facebook option, though: http://www.facebook.com/pages/uzine-blog/216710133861 … until the autopost feature got too much bugs, that is.
+ will often do linkdumps without too much explanation – up to you to jump to associations similarly :-)
[Incidentally: in my convention for the e-zine that was and for this blog as it’s developing, in album titles, each word gets a capital, whereas in song titles only the first word and proper names ; band names are something inbetween, e.g. Captain Beefheart and the Magic Band, hence e.g. the JB’s.]
