So far Darondo, has only been reissued by Ubiquity. But soon there’ll be a full Darondo cd on BGP too: “Listen to my song (The Music City Sessions)“, cat. no. CDBGPD 233, not yet announced on Ace [UK]’s site … but already mentioned on page 14 of the booklet to BGP’s “Street Sounds From The Bay Area (Music City Funk & Soul Grooves 1971-75)” v/a cd (2011, cat. no. CDBGPD 232), which features an exquisite early version of “Gimme some”, while the opening track by Charles ‘Doc’ Williams features our man too. BGP / Ace are working together on this cd one with Omnivore – who will also release an lp with six tracks less on 2011-08-23. Meanwhile, “Didn’t I“ is already available on Ace’s “The Music City Story (Street Corner Doo Wop, Raw R&B And Soulful Sounds From Berkeley California 1950-75)” v/a 3cd (2011, cat. no. ABOXCD 11). Still looking forward to seeing all versions of “Legs“ (parts 1 & 2) on one (physical) comp, though …
