RIP Larry Cassidy of Section 25, purveyor of one of new & cold wave’s most distinct bass sounds, and therefore one of the main men behind the Factory / Factory Benelux labels’ legendary sound. “Always now” is off The Key Of Dreams (1982-06), my favourite S25 record (a great psychedelic, dubby cold wave lp with mild funky touches – I could just as well have picked “Visitation” off it, or any other track). Beats Second Layer anytime. The two other tracks are reworkings of their ‘indie hit song’ “Dirty disco” off the Always Nowlp (1981-09), viz. a version with French vocals (1981-08, produced by Martin Hannett) and a 1984 demo of the second version that would end up on the Crazy Wisdom12″ (1985-09).  (tnx 4 tip Arne)
